Why History Doesn't Have to Be a Mystery in Bedford

Here are seven things you should know today.

1. Educate yourself on Bedford's past! Stop by the Bedford Historical Society Museum today or any other Wednesday, from 10 a.m. to noon, for a weekly open house. Have some of your questions about Bedford's history answered and take the opportunity to purchase Bedford's own Stevens-Buswell CQ Coffee, some Bedford books, pewter ornaments and/or handmade pin creations by Dizzy Cupcakes. Information is also available pertaining to some of the Historical Society's upcoming events such as the annual historic car show on Aug. 10 and the third-annual  "Anything and Everything Yard Sale" on Sept. 28. While you're there, feel free to purchase your $5 shopping pass for Macy's Shop For A Cause on Saturday, August 24. For more information, click here.

2. Bedford boys blazing a trail through Rhode Island.
The Bedford 9- and 10-year-old Little League all-stars have pieced together back-to-back blowouts to move up the standings in the Eastern Regional tournament in Cranston, RI. For more on the team, click here.

3. Jackpot!!!
Have you purchased your Powerball ticket yet? With the jackpot for tonight's drawing expected to reach $425 million, the lines at the local stores are sure to be out the doors. For more information, click here.

4. Take a Journey Around the World. Join the Kidgits Club at The Mall of New Hampshire as they travel around the world on at 1 p.m. today. Local area children and families will not want to miss this opportunity to let their imaginations run wild as they journey to all ends of the earth and experience new cultures like never before, without even having to leave New Hampshire! Kids will enjoy various crafts, activities and prizes. This event is free for Simon Kidgits Club Members. Nonmembers can sign up for a $5 annual fee at Simon Guest Servies or at the event.

5. The weatherman says ... If you liked Tuesday's weather, get ready to like today's too. The forecast calls for sunny skies with a high near 81. Tonight, a slight chance of showers between 2 and 3 a.m., then a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 3 a.m. Increasing clouds, with a low around 61.
