Board members split after site visits and neighbor complaints, leaving the property owners without a variance and reinforcing the city’s existing backyard poultry limits near residential wetlands.

• Manchester planning board approves 30-unit townhouse proposal on Mammoth Road (unionleader.com) — Manchester’s Planning Board has approved a 30-unit townhouse project off Mammoth Road, despite neighbors’ concerns about traffic, wetlands, and rodents. The Melrose Place at Huse Farm development will add five townhouse buildings, 75 parking spaces, sidewalks, and lighting on a wooded 4.66-acre parcel near Somerville Street and local churches.
   

• Santa Fund (unionleader.com) — Manchester families in need are being helped this Christmas through the Union Leader Santa Fund, which supports the Salvation Army of Greater Manchester’s toy shop and assistance programs. Recent donations, from $25 memorial gifts to a $5,000 tribute, are fueling efforts that bring comfort, joy, and basic necessities to local children, families, and people experiencing homelessness.
