GRAY, ME — A cold front coming into the state of New Hampshire is going to lead to some chilly temperature and scattered snow showers, too, on Tuesday.

A wind chill advisory was issued by forecasters on Monday warning of temperatures that will feel like it is as much as 30 degrees below zero.

“Very cold wind chills expected,” the report stated. “Wind chills as low as 25 below zero. The cold wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes. Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves.”

In parts of the state on Monday, when the Artic front begins to move into the area, scattered snow showers are expected.

“There is some potential for those snow showers to organize into snow squalls,” forecasters said. “This would impact the evening commute, especially across southern areas.”

Major snow accumulation is not expected.

The New Hampshire Department of Safety Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management also issued a warning to residents to prepare for the very cold temperatures.

“Remember to check on your family, the elderly, or others with access and functional needs, this includes your pets, to make sure they are safe and have heat,” Jennifer Harper, the Director of the NH Homeland Security and Emergency Management, said. “Stay indoors if you can. If you must go outside, dress in layers, cover exposed skin and limit time outside.”

Harper recommended Granite Staters stay indoors as much as possible, wear several layers of loose-fitting clothing when outdoors, including a hat, scarf, and gloves, and if clothing becomes wet, remove it immediately. If you have to go out, return indoors when shivering. Also, bring animals indoors, too.
