Holiday Observances, Tree Lighting and a Pasta Supper

A look at what's on tap for the week in Merrimack.

Thanksgiving observances. Thanksgiving is Thursday, in observance, the town offices will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 28 and 29. The Merrimack Public Library will close at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 27 and will be closed on Nov. 28. School lets out for Thanksgiving break at the end of the day on Tuesday. Students will have Wednesday-Friday off and return to close on Monday, Dec. 2.

Week meeting schedule. Due to the holiday week, it's a light week for meetings. Only the Heritage District Committee meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 26 at 7 p.m. in the Community Development Room.

Pasta Dinner fundraiser. Help the Merrimack Cadinals raise money to send some of the Merrimack Cardinals Jr. Pee Wee cheer squad to Disney World for the National Championship.  The cost is just $5 for pasta and bread. Tree sale starts. The Rotary Club of Merrimack will begin its annual Christmas tree sale beginning on Dec. 1,  at the old Shaw’s parking lot on Daniel Webster Highway in Merrimack. The club will sell over 350 fresh Fraser and Canadian Balsam fir trees from Nova Scotia from December 1, 2013 until the trees are sold out. Weekday hours are 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm; weekend hours are 8:00 am to 8:00 pm. 

Holiday cheer. Get in the holiday spirit at this year's annual Holiday Parade and Tree Lighting Ceremony on Sunday, Dec. 1. This year's theme is "Holidays Around the Way." Parade steps off at the Commons, 515 Daniel Webster Highway at 3 p.m. and will march to the town hall at 6 p.m. where people will convene on Abbie Griffin Park for the tree lighting in the Community Bandstand.
