Men Arrested for Prowling, Possession of Heroin

Police say men were found behind a local business at an 'unreasonable hour.' An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

A suspicious car behind a closed business Friday night led to the arrest of two men who Merrimack Police say were found to have what police believe is heroin in their possession.

Eric Lessard, 28, of 149 Irving Drive, Weare, and Douglas Winter, 33, of 57 Dudley Brook Lane, Weare, were each charged with prowling and possession of a narcotic after police located them behind a closed business "at an unreasonable hour" with no explanation as to what they were doing there.

Police say an officer was completing regular check of a business on Webb Drive when he came across Lessard and Winter. A brief investigation determined the pair had no reason to be at the business and they were each placed under arrest for prowling.

During an inventory of the vehicle the two were in, a certain amount of what is believed to be heroin was found within the vehicle and subsequently in their possession.

Each was placed on $5,000 cash or corporate bail and they were arraigned in Merrimack's district court.
