Merrimack Firefighters And Police Rescue Ducklings From Storm Drain
Watch: Crews worked inside storm drains on Executive Park Drive to remove a family of ducklings who became separated from their mother.
MERRIMACK, NH — Merrimack Fire Rescue and police responded to Executive Park Drive on Tuesday for a report of several ducklings in a storm drain.
Firefighters could hear the ducklings in two different storm drains near each other. They removed the grates and lowered a ladder to allow a firefighter to enter the storm drain. Crews used buckets to scoop the ducklings from the murky water in the drain. As crews worked, the ducks used a pipe to continue moving from the storm drain to the storm drain.
A decision was made to get some popcorn from the nearby Apple Cinemas and try to lure the ducklings to them. The apparent mother of the ducklings watched from a nearby parking lot and didn’t appear to be happy until some of the ducklings started to emerge.
