Merrimack High School Top 10: Courtney Wood, No. 9

MERRIMACK, NH — Courtney Wood is thrilled to be recognized as a top 10 student of the Class of 2024 at Merrimack High School.

Throughout her four years at Merrimack, Courtney pushed herself academically, enrolling in many AP and honors classes. Through taking these difficult classes, she found a passion for science and earned the Pursuit of Science Award in her junior year.

Courtney plans to pursue this interest, majoring in Biotechnology at Pennsylvania State University.

When she’s not spending time studying, Courtney participates in many extracurriculars and athletics at the high school. Joining athletic teams and clubs led to some of Courtney’s most enjoyable moments. She ran for the high school cross country team all four years and was a team captain in both her junior and senior years. In the spring, Courtney played tennis and ran for the track team. Courtney takes part in Quiz Bowl and is a Science Olympiad captain.

Courtney is also a member of the National Honor Society. Recently, Courtney joined the Merrimack band, becoming a part of the awesome alto saxophone section. Courtney is very appreciative of all the support and friends she has made through the band.

Courtney is extremely grateful to her dog, Summit, Mom, Dad, and her incredibly supportive family and friends. Courtney is also appreciative of the teachers who have provided her guidance and support throughout her high school journey.

Courtney is super thankful for all the support she has received and is excited for the next chapter of her academic journey.
