Armed Person Incident Shuts Down Daniel Webster Highway In Merrimack

MERRIMACK, NH — Merrimack police responded to Daniel Webster Highway for an armed person having a mental health event Thursday.

Police attempted to locate and contact the person to get their precise location. Information gathered indicated the person was in an area of Daniel Webster Highway between a Crosswoods Path Boulevard residential area and Extra Space Storage. The D.W. Highway was completely shut down between the 7-11 and the area just south of the Exit 13 offramp.

Dispatchers contacted people in vulnerable areas and asked them to shelter in place for their safety.

The Merrimack Fire ambulance was summoned to the scene to transport the person with police assistance to the hospital for evaluation and care.

D.W. Highway was reopened after the person was secured, and police knew there was no further danger.
