Second Man Charged In Connection With The October 2024 Overdose Death Of A Merrimack Woman
Edwin Jimenez-Gomez of Manchester faces a sale of a controlled drug charge connected to the fentanyl intoxication death of Isabella Spain.

MERRIMACK, NH — A second man is facing charges connected to the overdose death of a Merrimack woman last year, according to police.
Edwin Alexis Jimenez-Gomez, 22, of an unknown address in Manchester, was arrested on Sept. 3 and charged with a felony count of sale of a controlled drug resulting in death. The case is connected to the death of Isabella Spain, 20, of Merrimack, who grew up in Bedford and died last year.
On Oct. 31, 2024, police and fire and rescue teams were sent to a home in Merrimack for a report of an overdose. Spain was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Investigators collected evidence, including paraphernalia that tested positive for fentanyl, and interviewed a surviving witness who confirmed that both he and Ms. Spain had taken what they believed was a single Percocet pill that was delivered to the residence by Jimenez Gomez,” Lt. Sean Cassell of the Merrimack Police Department said. “An autopsy confirmed that Ms. Spain died from acute fentanyl intoxication.”

Along with Merrimack police, the ATF New Hampshire Violent Crime Task Force, the Manchester Police Department Anti-Crime Unit, and the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office Drug Prosecution Unit were involved in the case.
Jimenez-Gomez was held on preventative detention.
Andrew Christopher Avallone, 23, of Bedford, was indicted on Aug. 14, also on a controlled drug: drug sale; death resulting felony charge in Hillsborough County Superior Court South connected to the case. He waived arraignment on Sept. 3.
Jimenez-Gomez is no stranger to the police.
In October 2023, Jimenez-Gomez was charged with criminal threatening-deadly weapon in Manchester.
At the time of the incident, Jimenez-Gomez was living in Bedford. He was accused of pointing a gun at another person during the course of an argument in Manchester. At the time of the arraignment, he was incarcerated. Bail was set at $2,000 cash. In November 2023, Jimenez-Gomez’s attorney also filed a notice of self-defense in that case. After a continuous and a court order, the charge was dismissed without prejudice.
Jimenez-Gomez was indicted in January in Hillsborough County Superior Court North on another criminal threatening gun charge.
According to court documents, his mail was returned on Feb. 14, and he failed to appear at the arraignment of the gun threat charge on March 3. Jimenez-Gomez waived arraignment on April 28 and bail was set at $250 cash. An attempt to vacate the arrest warrant was denied.
On June 2, more court mail was returned, but a dispositional conference was held on July 1.
On Sept. 1, Jimenez-Gomez’s attorney filed a “notice of self-defense” filing in court. A final pretrial hearing is slated for Feb. 11, 2026, with jury selection to begin on Feb. 23, 2026.
