Eight Merrimack employees have been honored for their longtime service, including the police chief, fire captain and public works official.
MERRIMACK, NH — The Merrimack Town Council has recently recognized eight town employees for their longtime service to the town. The employees included members of the police and fire departments, the public works and more.
Here are the people given recognition awards last month:
- Philip F. Meschino, of the Public Works Department — 35 years of service in Merrimack
- Robert L. Lovering Jr., of the Buildings and Grounds Department— 30 years of service
- Diane M. Trippett, of the Town Clerk/Tax Collector's Office — 30 years of service
- Brenda S. DuLong, of the Town Clerk/Tax Collector's Office — 25 years of service
- Police Chief Denise I. Roy — 25 years of service
- Fire Capt. Brian C. Dubreuil — 25 years of service
- Tracy R. Doherty, of the Assessing Department — 20 years of service
- Maureen A. Covell, of the Assessing Department, recognized for 20 years of service
Meschino's ethics and hard work were cited in a Patch article in 2011, after he was demoted and his pay was cut during the town's reorganization of the Public Works Department employees. Meschino not only kept working, but also kept a positive, straightforward attitude about his job, often being seen cutting grass or planting flowers in front of Town Hall.

The Town Council recognized these eight town employees during a meeting Aug. 15.
During the meeting, Police Deputy Chief Brian Levesque spoke about Roy, who joined the Police Department in 1991 as a part-time officer, being hired full-time in 1994. She has worked in every position at the department, including two years as an undercover officer for the Attorney General's Drug Task Force. She has been a police prosecutor, became captain in 2017 and then promoted to chief in October 2017, according to Levesque.
