Town and School District Business Heats Up This Week

Planning Board and Merrimack School District Budget Committee to meet Tuesday night; ZBA to meet Wednesday night.

State of the Union Tuesday. President Barack Obama will give the annual State of the Union Address on Tuesday at 9 p.m. Stay tuned to Patch on Tuesday for reaction from New Hampshire political observers on both sides of the aisle.

Hemingway for Governor? So far, no Republican candidates have publicly announced a run for governor in 2014. But rumor has it that Andrew Hemingway may be thinking about challenging Democrat Maggie Hassan. A Draft Andrew Hemingway for Governor page has even popped up on Facebook. On Thursday, Jan. 30, Hemingway will host a "Solutions First Rally" at the Yard Restaurant in Manchester, a possible sign that he may be gearing up for a run.

Conservation Commission meeting: The Merrimack Conservation Commission will meet on Monday at 6:30 p.m. at the Town Offices.

Planning Board meeting:
The Merrimack Planning Board will meet on Tuesday at the Town Office at 7:30 p.m.

SAU 26 Budget Committee meeting:
The Merrimack School District Budget Committee will meet on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. to conduct school department budget reviews for the proposed 2014-2015 budget at the Merrimack High School Cafeteria.

ZBA meeting:
The Merrimack Zoning Board of Adjustment will meet on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Town Offices.

Volunteers needed: Several town boards and committees need members of the community who wish to volunteer their time and expertise. The openings are listed on the town's web site. If interested, please contact the Town Manager's office.

Need to get rid of your Christmas tree: The town's Transfer Station will continue to accept Christmas trees in the brush pile free of charge for residents who need a place to dispose of their trees.

School bus drivers needed:
The Merrimack Schools are also seeking some part-time school bus drivers. More details can be found here.
