Falling on the last Monday of May each year, Memorial Day honors those who lost their lives while serving in the military. It's a federal holiday that many people get off from work, resulting in a three-day weekend.
This year, Memorial Day falls on May 27, and for many, this holiday weekend marks the unofficial start of summer. We've rounded up some things to do Memorial Day Weekend in and around Merrimack. Please note: We recommend calling ahead to confirm the hours and access before you head out the door.
Parents Night Out Nerf Wars
When: Friday, May 24 - 6:30-9:00 p.m.
Where: Wasserman Park's Function Hall, 116 Naticook Rd., Merrimack, NH 03054
What: Enjoy a night out while children aged 7 to 14 engage in a Nerf War-themed hosted by the energetic Parks & Recreation Department staff. The event, priced at $25 per child and $20 for each additional sibling, includes various moderated Nerf battles, a pizza dinner and requires participants to bring their own protective gear and Nerf equipment. Sea Glass Creations
When: Friday, May 24 - 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Where: The Canvas Roadshow Studio, 25 South River Rd., Bedford, NH, 03110
What: Create unique sea glass art using shells, colorful pebbles, sand and sea glass, with all materials provided and the option to incorporate personal beach treasures. During the creative session, instructors will guide participants in completing their chosen 11”x14” frame ($60) or 8”x10” frame ($50). Registration for the event ends on Wednesday, May 22.
Psychic & Oddities Fair & Exhibition
When: Saturday, May 25 - 12:00-6:00 p.m.; Sunday, May 26 - 11:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
Where: DoubleTree by Hilton Manchester Downtown, 700 Elm St., Manchester, NH 03101
What: Secure your for the popular Psychic & Oddities Fair event that will sell out quickly due to limited venue capacity. The fair features a diverse range of attractions including psychics, gothic designers, paranormal specialists and themed shops, offering a unique experience that encourages self-expression and community connection. Tickets for Saturday are $20 before tax and Sunday’s admission fee is $18 plus tax.

Paul Nelson Music: Live
When: Saturday, May 25 - 4:00-6:00 p.m.
Where: Great North Aleworks, 1050 Holt Ave. Unit # 14, Manchester, NH 03109
What: Catch the musical stylings of Paul Nelson at Great North Aleworks starting at 4:00 p.m. The live music is a free event in the tasting room where patrons will have a chance to hear blues/roots and pop-folk music.
