When Will Town Council Begin $30.7M Budget Review?

Town Council to hold up to six meeting to finalize proposed 2014-2015 municipal budget and warrant articles.

The Merrimack Town Council is scheduled to hold up to six meetings to analyze the proposed $30.7 million 2014-2015 municipal budget and the Town Meeting warrant articles that will both be decided this spring.

According to Paul, Micali, the town's finance director, the Merrimack Town Council will meet on the following dates and take up the following budget areas:

  • Monday, Jan 13, 6 p.m.: Public Works Administration, Highway, Solid Waste Disposal, Equipment Maintenance, Buildings and Grounds, Wastewater Treatment Fund, Parks and Recreation, Summer Day Camp.
  • Thursday, Jan. 16, 6 p.m.: Assessing, Community Development, Media, General Government, Proposed Issuance of Debt, Revenues.
  • Monday, Jan. 20, 6 p.m.: Fire, Code Enforcement, Communications, Police, Police Detail, Library, Welfare, Town Clerk/Tax Collector.
  • Monday, Jan. 27, 6 p.m.: Fire, Code Enforcement, Communications, Police, Police Detail, Library, Welfare, Town Clerk/Tax Collector (if necessary).
  • Thursday, Jan. 30, 6 p.m.: Finalize recommended Operating Budget and Special Warrant Articles (if necessary).
  • Feb. 13, 7 p.m.: Public Hearings will be held for the following items:
  • Proposed Operating Budget
  • Collective Bargaining Agreements
  • Proposed Issuance of Debt
  • Petitioned Bonds
  • Other Petitioned Warrant Articles
The Town Council will also review the default budget, which goes into effect on July 1 if town meeting voters fail to pass a budget.
