Young Entrepreneurs Shine at the Merrimack Children's Business Fair
3rd annual event took place last Sunday showcasing the entrepreneurial spirit and creativity of children between the ages of 5 and 16.
Merrimack, NH – Despite challenging weather conditions, including a rare tornado warning, the Merrimack Children's Business Fair, organized by 13-year-old local resident Sara Snavely, was a resounding success. The 3rd annual event took place on Sunday, June 23rd, behind the American Legion in Merrimack, NH, showcasing the entrepreneurial spirit and creativity of children between the ages of 5 and 16.
This year’s fair featured 17 small businesses, all entirely set up and run by children. These young entrepreneurs brought a diverse array of products and services to the community, including handmade crafts, baked goods, artwork, face painting, 3D modeling and more. Each participant demonstrated remarkable resilience and adaptability in the face of less-than-ideal weather conditions, ensuring that their businesses continued to operate smoothly throughout the day.
"Seeing kids like me come together and put so much effort into their businesses was really inspiring" shared Snavely. "I hope they all enjoyed the experience and maybe even gave them the confidence to start a business someday."

The fair not only provided a platform for children to experience the world of business firsthand but also fostered a sense of community and support. Each child learned invaluable lessons about entrepreneurship, from handling sales to customer service, and even a little marketing. Parents, friends, and local residents came out to support the young entrepreneurs, creating an encouraging and vibrant atmosphere.
The fair's success was a testament to the hard work and determination of the participants. Each child left with a sense of accomplishment and practical knowledge that will serve them well in future endeavors. One of the participants, 12-year-old Allison McMahon shared "This is my 3rd year being a part of this and I really look forward to it every year. Its definitely fun to make money, but I love seeing what all the other kids do for their businesses too."
