Bicyclist, 55, Hit Crossing Amherst Street

The victim was flown to a Boston hospital.

On January 13, 2014 at approximately 8:30 a.m., the Nashua Police Department responded to a motor vehicle collision on Amherst Street near Deerwood Drive. Preliminarily, the investigation has determined a minivan was traveling east-bound on Amherst Street in the left travel lane. The bicyclist was crossing the road from the area of D’Angelo’s Restaurant to the area of the Mandarin Restaurant. The bicyclist was not in a crosswalk. The collision occurred in the left travel lane. The bicyclist sustained serious injuries and was transported to a Boston hospital for treatment.

The bicyclist is identified as 55-year-old Kevin Johnson. Johnson is a Nashua resident. The operator of the minivan is a twenty-one year old woman, also a Nashua resident.

The investigation is on-going and a determination of cause has not yet been made. Any witnesses to the collision are asked to contact the Nashua Police Department at 594-3500.
