Fire Marshal Rules Out Natural Gas Explosion in Fatal Fire

Clean-up efforts have begun at the site of a fatal fire on Carlisle Road, as investigators work to discover what caused the devastating July 10 blaze.

"I can tell you natural gas has been ruled out, so the citizens of Nashua don't have to worry about that," said Cynthia Bautista, the city's Fire Marshal.

he also said that the name of the victim has not been released, information that should come from the state Fire Marshal's office, in due time.

One day after fire ravaged the home, clean-up and construction crews were busy stabilizing the two-story structure, which was reduced to little more than a charred and melted frame. It would be secured and boarded up, Bautista said.

"It's a difficult thing for the family - it's emotional, and devastating for all concerned," said Bautista, who said this is her first fatal fire since her promotion to city Fire Marshal in August of 2012.

Although Nashua Police are involved, Bautista said, Asst. state Fire Marshal Max Schultz is the lead investigator.

"Cause and origin of the fire will come from the state fire marshal," Bautista said.
