Got Change? I'm Ringing the Bell Thursday at Market Basket
I'd also like to invite anyone with an instrument who'd like to play or sing during my shift to join me.

On Thursday, Dec. 5, I will be standing in someone else's shoes.
Well, they will be my shoes, but for the sake of metaphor, I will be experiencing what it's like to ring the bell for the Salvation Army's annual Red Kettle Campaign.
You will find me outside of Market Basket, 375 Amherst St., between 1 and 3 p.m.
My goal, aside from achieving the fullest kettle in Salvation Army history during a two-hour shift, is to see how Nashua's generosity looks from the inside out.
You are notorious for your outpouring whenever called on to give; I know this because I've seen it happen, time and again, from the outside.
And while the annual kettle campaign is something of a seasonal tradition, and bell ringers a common sight this time of year, the need is no less urgent.
This is the Salvation Army's primary fundraising event, making it possible not only to provide some holiday cheer to families going through tough times, but also to stock their food pantry year round, stuff back-to-school packs in August, and provide emergency assistance in whatever way is needed, whenever they are called on to help.
So, shake down the piggy banks, search the couch cushions, forgo that drive-through coffee fix because, truly, America runs on the kindness of strangers who understand what a difference our charitable community outreaches can make in the lives of those who, for one reason or another, are struggling.
Oh, and if you can't make it between 1-3 p.m., that's OK - drop by anytime. The kettle will be there. Or you can also donate online.
And one more thing: If you have a special talent – singing, breakdancing, playing a musical instrument, beat boxing, miming, clowning – I would ask that you join me, just to add a little more festivity to the moment. Text me at 603-903-4958 if you're tempted, and I'll twist your arm.
If you or someone you know is in need of general assistance or during the holidays, you would like to volunteer, or donate goods, please contact 603-883-7841.
