NASHUA, NH — A homeless man allegedly was threatening people in a homeless camp with a machete on Wednesday and now faces multiple charges.

Nashua police officers responded to the report of a man who had cut open a tent with a machete in a homeless encampment Wednesday morning. The man then proceeded to threaten the victim within the tent with a machete, according to police. The victim told police he knew the man and identified him as Travis Morgan, 41.

The officers on the scene located Morgan in the encampment near the end of Lock Street in a wooded area between the power lines and the railroad tracks. When officers attempted to contact Morgan, he ignored them and fled into the woods, police said. Morgan was accused of jumping into the Merrimack River to swim away from officers toward Hudson. With the assistance of Hudson police and New Hampshire State Police, Morgan was placed under arrest.
