Main Street Construction Continues

Expect more downtown traffic congestion with a lane closure to replace gas lines.

On our rounds yesterday we passed the work crews along Main Street to see how the road closure was affecting traffic. For the most part, we didn't see any big problems - Manchester Police officers were directing traffic, which helped keep things moving.

Also, we noted the workers in front of Cardin Jewelers laying brick under a blue tent – hope they had lots of water on hand as the mercury again stretched into the mid-90s.

Recap of downtown road work: Expect sidewalks to be pressure washed and sealed, and brick work and plantings to be completed. Also, the city will prepare the East side for new sidewalks including the removal of bollards, light poles and meters. Installation of three new catch basin structures is planned on the East side. The gas company will be replacing gas lines at 98 and 100 Main Street which will require the closure of one lane.

lease do not hesitate to contact Public Works Director Lisa Fauteux or Andy Patrician, Operations Manager, on site or at 589-3140 with any concerns.
