Man Charged With Cell Phone Thefts

On July 2, 2013, members of the Nashua Police Department Uniform Field Operations Division arrested a Massachusetts resident for Theft by Unauthorized Taking or Transfer Consolidation, Class A Felony. Scott Rutkowski, age 27, of LKA 4 Springfield Lane, Stoneham, Massachusetts, was arrested at the Nashua Police Department, at approximately 1:00 p.m.

On April 3, 2011, at approximately 1:58 pm, Nashua Police patrol officers responded to a local AT&T business and learned that a male suspect took two cell phones, valued in excess of $1,000, from the business without attempting to pay for them, and left the store. On April 4, 2011, at approximately 12:00 p.m., officers responded to another area AT&T business and learned the same male took two additional cell phones, valued at $949.98, without attempting to pay for them, and fled the store. The investigation was furthered by Detectives in the Criminal Investigations Division and a warrant was issued for Rutkowski.

A Class A Felony is punishable by up to 15 years in the New Hampshire State Prison, exclusive of fines. Rutkowski is being held at the Nashua Police Department on $3,000.00 C/S bail pending his arraignment at the 9th Circuit-District Division-Nashua Court on July 3, 2013.

On June 20, 2013, Nashua Police arrested Crystal Surette, age 28, for the same offense. It is alleged Rutkowski and Surrette were acting in concert during the commission of the thefts.
