Merrimack Man Indicted In Connection To Fatal Crash That Killed Woman

Kyle Freeman is accused of fleeing from Nashua police and killing Brandee LaBarge of Manchester in a drunken driving crash.

NASHUA, NH — The Hillsborough County grand jury has indicted Kyle Freeman, 24, of Merrimack, in connection to a highspeed crash that killed his girlfriend.

Freeman was accused of fleeing police in Nashua and killing Brandee LaBarge, 23, of Manchester, who was a passenger in the vehicle. Freeman and LaBarge were both ejected from the vehicle, a Nissan Altima, when it left the roadway and jumped a small pond before crashing. Freeman was accused of manslaughter, a special felony, for "recklessly causing" LaBarge's death.

LaBarge was rushed to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead a short time later.
Freeman was initially treated at a local hospital, then flown to a Boston hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

Freeman was indicted on other charges, including two counts of disobeying an officer, crash with death resulting, driving under the influence, and operating as a habitual offender. He was also charged with three misdemeanor counts of stalking-domestic violence, driving after suspension or revocation, and driving without proof.

Nashua officers responded to the Residence Inn by Marriott in April at 25 Trafalgar Square for the report of an assault involving a deadly weapon around 1:40 a.m. As officers responded with lights and sirens, they observed a black Nissan Altima driving at them on the wrong side of Somerset Parkway, according to Nashua Police Sgt. John Cinelli.

The vehicle crossed over the median to avoid the oncoming police vehicle and began to accelerate at an extremely high rate of speed, he said. Officers reversed direction in an attempt to pursue the fleeing vehicle.

As officers reversed their direction, the car accelerated past them and turned off the vehicle lights. Moments later, officers heard a loud crash and discovered that the vehicle had crossed over Amherst Street and crashed into a parking lot.

Freeman is scheduled to appear in Hillsborough County Court on Nov. 26 for a dispositional conference..
