Nashua Dad Works Hard, Raises Granddaughter Amid Cancer Diagnosis
Patch has partnered with T-Mobile to shine a light on awesome dads. Nashua, meet Tom Troville.

NASHUA, NH— Father's Day is the perfect time to give a big thanks to all the dads who put smiles on our faces. Nashua, meet Tom Troville.
If you know a dad who sends sweet, silly, or thoughtful texts your way, you’re pretty lucky. Texts from Dad have a way of putting smiles on our faces — and this Father’s Day, we’re celebrating the fathers behind the phones!
Patch has partnered with T-Mobile to shine a light on awesome dads and the funny, insightful things they say. This submission comes from Tammy O'Brien who nominated Tom Troville of Nashua.
What makes your dad extra special?
My dad is extra special because he is 73 years old, has prostate and aggressive bladder cancer, and still works full-time. But mostly he is my hero and my best friend because despite everything he is going through, he has also been raising his 11-year-old granddaughter for 10 years.
I was blessed in life with the father I have. He is going through so much and yet still smiles every day. My mom died three years ago and yet my dad just keeps going. He does not take time for himself. He is always doing for everyone else including me. That's why my father should be in the spotlight — he is my hero, my best friend and my rock.
Why do you feel your dad deserves the spotlight?
Even having two kinds of aggressive cancers, he puts everyone else first. I don't know how he does it at 73. He runs around playing with his granddaughter after working full-time and chemo and radiation. He lives for his family rather than living for himself.
Happy Father’s Day to Tom Troville, and thank you for all you do!
