Nashua Firefighters Battle Blaze In Bridge Street Laundromat Saturday

NASHUA, NH — Nashua Fire Rescue received a call about a fire in the laundromat at 31 Bridge St. on Saturday.

Firefighters en route to the call could see smoke showing before they arrived at about 8:22 a.m. On arrival, Engine 4 reported smoke from a single-story commercial building. Crews stretched 2 hose lines into the Laundromat area of the building and extinguished the fire.

Ladder 1 searched the building to ensure all occupants were out, performing horizontal and vertical ventilation. Ladder 2 searched the attached 2 1/2-story wood frame and removed all residents from the apartments.

Liberty Utilities and Eversource responded to the scene to shut off utilities, Nashua Police assisted with traffic control in the area of the fire. The fire was contained in the laundromat; however, smoke traveled into the attached residence.

One firefighter was treated at the scene for a minor hand injury; no other injuries were reported at the incident.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Nashua Fire Marshal’s Office.

Nashua Deputy Chief Telgen reminded people to evacuate the building when smoke detectors sound. Exiting the building as soon as possible will provide you with the best opportunity for survival.
