Nashua Firefighters Battle Wind Driven Brush Fire In Wooded Area
Crews arrived at an area behind a residential area behind Eastbrook Dr. Dry conditions and wind offered challenges to firefighters.
NASHUA, NH - Nashua Fire Rescue responded to a report of a brush fire behind a residential area on Eastbrook Drive Sunday.
Crews arrived at about 4:30 p.m. to an area burning and quickly spreading due to the winds and dry conditions. Additional apparatus and personnel were requested to the scene. Hose lines were stretched into the wooded area, which is located between the railroad tracks and the Merrimack River.
Firefighters used rakes, shovels, and leaf blowers to set up a barrier and push the burning materials toward the river embankment. The burning trees were extinguished, and some were cut down with chainsaws.
