Nashua Fugitive Found Hiding in Closet

Lonnie Jones, 46, was arrested early Tuesday morning in Revere, MA.

Early Tuesday morning, last week’s Fugitive of the Week, Lonnie Jones, was arrested by members of the U.S. Marshals–N.H. Joint Fugitive Task Force in Revere, MA.

Jones, 46, who was last known to have ties to the Nashua area, was wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant for probation violations stemming from his original convictions and sentences for second degree assault by strangulation and simple assault.

Jones was featured just last week as the “Fugitive of the Week” after the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office requested the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force in an effort to locate and arrest Jones. As part of the U.S. Marshal’s fugitive investigation, Jones was aired on Feb. 27 as the "Fugitive of the Week" on Patch, WTPL-FM, WMUR-TV, the Union Leader and The Telegraph as well as on the internet. Based on tips and information developed by the investigative efforts of the N.H. Joint Fugitve Task Force, it was determined that Jones was residing in an apartment in the 200 block of Beach Street in Revere, MA.

Jones was located hiding in a closet and was arrested without further incident on the outstanding New Hampshire warrant, as well as five additional outstanding arrest warrants in Massachusetts, including two for assault and battery. He was turned over to the Revere Police Department to be charged as a fugitive from justice on the outstanding New Hampshire warrant and to be arraigned on the other five outstanding Massachusetts arrest warrants.

Jones will be held at the Suffolk County Jail pending his initial court appearance and will be returned to New Hampshire once the Massachusetts cases are resolved.

The arrest was made by several members of the U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force, including; Hillsborough (NH), Rockingham (NH) and Essex (MA) county sheriff’s offices, Greenfield (NH) and Cambridge (MA) police departments, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, deputy U.S. Marshals from both New Hampshire and Massachusetts, along with officers from the Revere (MA) Police Department.
