Nashua Man Accused Of Taking Part In August Robbery, Hammer Attack

NASHUA, NH —A Nashua man was arrested Saturday and is accused of being an accomplice in an August incident in which a victim was robbed and beaten with a hammer, the Nashua Police Department said.

Manuel Rodriguez Figueroa, 45, was charged with criminal liability to robbery, which is a Class A felony and is punishable by up to 15 years in prison, according to police.

Rodriguez Figueroa was released on cash bail and is scheduled to be arraigned on Nov. 17, the Nashua PD said.

In August, Jonathan Vargas, 34, of Manchester, was arrested in connection with the incident and charged with first-degree assault with a deadly weapon, a Class A felony, robbery, a class A felony, and falsifying physical evidence, a Class B felony, police said.

According to police reports, on August 27, the Nashua PD's Uniform Operations Bureau responded to a report of a male suffering from extensive facial injuries.

The victim was transported to a local hospital and later to Massachusetts General Hospital for more specialized care, authorities said.

The Nashua PD said it learned that the victim's injuries were the result of an assailant striking the victim in the face with a hammer in an effort to steal the victim's belongings.

Vargas was arrested in connection with the beating and robbery on August 28.

The Nashua PD's Criminal Investigations Division continued to investigate the case, the department said. During the investigation, the Nashua PD located and identified Rodriguez Figueroa as one of the individuals responsible for the assault and robbery of the victim, according to police.

An arrest warrant was issued for Rodriguez Figueroa, and he was taken into custody Sunday by the Nashua PD's Uniform Field Operations Bureau, the department said.
