Nashua Man Arrested, Accused Of Strangling Female Acquaintance
Nicholas Thomas faces domestic violence charges including second-degree assault (strangulation) and false imprisonment.

NASHUA, NH — A Nashua man was arrested Sunday and is accused of assaulting a female acquaintance, including strangling the victim, the Nashua Police Department said.
Nicholas Thomas, 29, was charged with second-degree assault (strangulation)-domestic violence, a Class B felony, six counts of domestic violence-simple assault, three counts of criminal mischief, and domestic violence-false imprisonment, all Class A misdemeanors, police said.
A Class B felony is punishable by up to 7 years in state prison and each Class A misdemeanor is punishable by up to 1 year in the county jail.

Thomas was held on preventative detention and was scheduled to be arraigned Monday in Hillsborough Superior Court Southern District, authorities said.
According to police reports, on Sunday, members of the Nashua PD Uniform Field Operations Bureau responded to a local residence after the report of an assault.

At the scene, police said an adult female reported that Thomas, who was known to her, had physically assaulted her during an argument. The victim also said that Thomas had damaged several items inside the home and prevented the victim from leaving the residence, according to the Nashua PD.
The victim had been forced to reach out to a neighbor for help, and the neighbor had called police, according to the Nashua PD.
The department said its officers took Thomas into custody.
An investigation conducted by detectives with the Nashua PD's Special Investigations Division determined that Thomas had strangled the victim, impeding her breathing, during the physical altercation, police said.
The Nashua PD did not say if the victim needed medical treatment.
