Nashua School District Names New Superintendent

The Nashua Board of Education announced Dr. Mario Andrade would be taking over as school superintendent, replacing Dr. Garth McKinney.

NASHUA, NH — The Nashua Board of Education announced Dr. Mario Andrade as the new superintendent of the Nashua Public Schools starting on July.1, after being confirmed by a special meeting held Thursday.

Andrade will replace Dr. Garth McKinney, the interim superintendent, since the departure of Dr. Jahmal Mosley in January 2021. The Nashua Board of Education offered Dr. Andrade a three-year contract with a starting salary of $172,500.

“We are confident in Dr. Andrade’s leadership,” Jennifer Bishop, president of the Nashua Board of Education, said in a release. “His commitment to public education, his senior administrative experience, and his firsthand knowledge of the district make him the ideal candidate to lead our schools.”

Andrade, who holds a Master in special education from Simmons College, Boston, and a doctorate in educational leadership from Johnson and Wales University, Providence, has served in several interim positions for the Nashua School District since 2020.

"I want to thank the Board for having faith in me,” said Andrade. “It is truly an honor and privilege to support the students and adults in the Nashua School community as the Superintendent of Schools. As an interim administrator in Nashua, I had the great fortune to learn with and from not only the talented, dedicated educators, administrators, and support staff across the district but also the remarkable students."
