New Hampshire authorities said Phillip Nash was arrested in Virginia after murdering his mother in Canterbury.

CONCORD, NH — A New Hampshire man has been charged with stabbing his mother to death, authorities announced Friday. Phillip Nash, 21, murdered his mother, Frances, in Canterbury last month, according to state Attorney General Gordon MacDonald. Frances Nash was reported missing May 19 and her body was found two days later, MacDonald said.
Phillip Nash stole her mother's car and a vehicle belonging to an employer and fled to Virginia, where he was arrested May 23, MacDonald said. Nash was transported back to New Hampshire Thursday to a second-degree murder charge. He will be arraigned Friday afternoon in Merrimack County Superior Court.
