John Edward “Jack” Fogarty III, 89, of Ossipee, died Sept. 26, 2025. In 1971, he became the first full-time police chief of Ossipee and served as chief until his retirement in 1988. He previously taught driver education at Exeter High School and was a firefighter and police officer for the town of Exeter. In retirement, he was railroad police officer for the New Hampshire Northcoast Railroad, where he patrolled the rails and rights-of-way between Ossipee and Rollinsford. He was a hockey coach, cubmaster, selectman, welfare officer, and library trustee. He was president of the New Hampshire Association of Chiefs of Police from 1983-1984. (Lord Funeral Home)

Raymond Anthony Guarino, 71, of Nashua, died Sept. 29, 2025. He worked as a principal transportation planner at Old Colony Planning Council in Brockton, Mass. He was very involved in Nashua and state politics and was a member of The Madonna Del Soccorso Fisherman's Feast, The Sons of Italy, The Knights of Columbus, Board of Education, and loved to make a difference through volunteering at different organizations, including the Brockton Area Multi Services Inc. Wanda Lee Jenkins, 81, of Bedford, died Sept. 30, 2025. She was employed by the Nashua School Department central office. After her children were grown, she and her husband moved to Bedford where she was town clerk, justice of the peace, and an active member of the Bedford Garden Club. (Legacy.com)

Karl Richard “Rick” Kloeppel, 79, of Elkins, died Sept. 25, 2025. He was a flight instructor, then a New York City area commuter and charter pilot, then a commercial pilot for Ozark, TWA and American Airlines. He kept his Cessna 120 at Parlin Field in Newport, where he was co-manager of the field and chairman of the Newport Airport Advisory Committee. (Chadwick Funeral and Cremation Service)
Capt. William Baker Marshall III, USN Ret. 86, of New Castle, died Sept. 22. 2025. He was a U.S. Navy supply officer, retiring in 1988. He was New Castle town treasurer for 23 years. He volunteered for The Nature Conservancy as a land steward and served on the New Castle Conservation Commission for many years. He ran the Seacoast Sailing School at the Kittery Point Yacht Club. Gerald “Jerry” J. Phaneuf, M.D., 89, of the Mount Washington Valley, died Sept. 23, 2025. After completing a pathology residency in Boston and Salem, Mass., while also serving as a captain in the Army National Guard and Reserves, he was an associate pathologist in Fall River, Mass. He was chief of pathology in 1969 and then worked for Damon Clinical Laboratory. In 1980 he became chief pathologist at Central Maine Medical Center. He often commuted to work from New Hampshire in his small plane. He owned and operated J’s Creamery and Family Restaurant, J’s Real Estate, and Management Services, Inc. He served on the Community Service board of directors for the United Way of Greater Fall River 1967-72 and chaired the United Fund Campaign in 1972. He served on the board of directors of the Fall River National Bank. (Legacy.com)
Robert H. Smethurst, 83, of Londonderry, died Sept. 28, 2025. A U.S. Army veteran, he was owner of Wm. Smethurst and Son, Inc. in Malden, Mass., and NH Tile Distributors. (Carrier Family Funeral Home)
The Rev. Michael S. Taylor, 70, of Windham, died Sept. 28, 2025. He was ordained a priest on June 7, 1997, by the Most Rev. Leo E. O'Neil, D.D., and served as parochial vicar of Saint Bernard Parish in Keene. He was named pastor of Saint Joseph Parish, Epping; Holy Trinity and Saint Martin Parish, Somersworth, and Saint Mary Parish in Rollinsford; Saint Ignatius of Loyola, Somersworth; Divine Mercy Parish, Peterborough, and Saint Matthew Parish, Windham, where he served until his death.
