The Nashua Police Department would like to join the New Hampshire State Police Marine Patrol Bureau in cautioning residents about swimming in unregulated bodies of water.
Recent rains have caused water and currents levels in many bodies of water to be increased. The increase in temperatures has drawn people to the water to cool off, and a number of unsuspecting people have run into trouble in these waters, some with tragic results. In recent weeks people of all ages have fallen victim to drowning throughout the state.
There are swimming prohibitions on a number of ponds within the city and police will be paying special attention to these areas for citizen safety.
Residents are encouraged to swim in city pools or other bodies of water that are monitored by lifeguards and to watch small children carefully.
