Why are you seeking elective office?
To better align state government resources with the services needed by its residents.
The single most pressing issue facing our (board, district, etc.) is _______, and this is what I intend to do about it.
Downshifting of costs from the state to cities and towns. I will support reasonable attempts to increase state revenue so cities and towns can be better supported. Our tax system, which relies too heavily on property taxes, is from the 18th century and needs to be rethought out.
What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
My opponents view the world as a zero-sum game. If someone wins, then someone must lose. I believe that if you benefit, then I benefit. The former view is all about "me." My view is that it is all about "we" and that is what I consider the definition of good governance.
If you are a challenger, in what way has the current board or officeholder failed the community (or district or constituency)
Describe the other issues that define your campaign platform
I support recycling & source reduction; agriculture and conservation efforts; public education, affordable healthcare for all; a living wage for all workers
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
My education and work experience have proven that I do my homework, can research & analyze data, listen and learn from those around me and make decisions based on the information at hand. As Chair of the Nashua Conservation Commission I provide leadership for stewardship and conservation of public land.
The best advice ever shared with me was …
Have faith in serendipity.
What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
I believe that it isn't the amount of money one pays for a product or service, but rather the value that one receives for their money. If you value the result then the money doesn't matter. However, if you regret the result you will always remember the money that was wasted. I apply this to government. Let's stop focusing on the amount and start focusing on the value that we, as residents, receive. Good government services need to be supported. For too long NH has relied on volunteers and short-staffed government departments to keep things glued together. We need to re-think the services we value and how we will pay for them.
