A man was found dead in a truck while authorities responded to a haz mat situation on Monday, according to published reports.

Police reportedly received a phone call from a Western Express trucking company supervisor who indicated that one of the company’s employees wanted to commit suicide, according to a report from WCVB-TV.
The truck was located in the mall parking lot and emergency crews were dispatched to its location, the report said. After opening the doors to the truck, authorities reported strong odors of chemicals and gasoline from inside the vehicle.

Authorities discovered the man lying face down on a bed in the back of the truck, according to the report.
The man was not identified.
During the haz mat situation Salem Police advised patrons to avoid the food court entrance and exit. Police said the incident was in the corner of the lot and the mall was not affected.
