The K-8 public charter school, which has grown from 88 to nearly 300 students, has a new "forever home" in Salem.

SALEM, NH — The Southern New Hampshire Chamber of Commerce in Salem recently celebrated the “forever home” opening for the Birches Academy of Academics & Art public charter school.

The school held a ribbon-cutting at its new location at 419 South Broadway.

The K-8 school, founded in 2012, had grown from 88 students to nearly 300, meaning it needed new digs. Students from almost two dozen New Hampshire towns attend classes at the school.

“With both single-stream and mixed-age classrooms, they maintain an impressive student-to-teacher ratio of 12:1, ensuring personalized attention for every child,” Emily Bilodeau, the marketing specialist for the chamber, said. “Their unique arts-integrated approach enriches the educational experience while incorporating STEAM principles.”

At The Birches Academy, the mission appears clear, “to create a thriving learning community that fosters excellence in core academics and the arts while celebrating each child’s unique qualities and strengths,” she said.
