PhRMA partnered with the Salem School District and Salem First Corporation to bring this vital funding to local students. Salem High School’s FIRST Robotics Team will use the funds to purchase laptop computers that will be used for robot software development, robot control, mobile CAD development, and performance data analysis at competitions. This educational grant will support age-appropriate STEM educational activities offered for students in grades 9 – 12.
“I want to thank PhRMA for investing in this important STEM program,” said Senator Morse. “We have seen in the past year the importance of the biopharmaceutical industry in leading us back toward normal and the knowledge they have shared with the world to fight the COVID-19 pandemic no doubt began with STEM education. Salem High School continues to be a leader in STEM education and I was pleased to nominate them for PhRMA’s generous contribution to the school’s FIRST Robotics program.”

Salem Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Michael Delahanty, expressed gratitude for this support. “Our school district is committed to STEM instruction and opportunities to focus students’ attention on science, technology, engineering, and math related fields. This generous contribution will be used to advance Salem High School’s FIRST Robotics program and efforts to attract more students to the program as well as advance STEM related fields.”
“PhRMA represents the country’s top biopharmaceutical research companies that allow the United States to be a leader in innovation, particularly in the fight to combat COVID-19. Programs like this are an excellent way for students to develop an interest in STEM careers. PhRMA is proud to support the Salem School District and their commitment to offering students quality STEM education opportunities,” said Jasmine Gossett, Director, Public Affairs at PhRMA.
