Salem Teen Competes For National Scholarship
Kate Chevaire is representing the state of New Hampshire this weekend at the Distinguished Young Women National Finals.

SALEM, NH — Kate Chevaire, a graduate of Salem High School, is competing this week at the cutthroat Distinguished Young Women National Finals in Mobile, Alabama.
Chevaire, representing New Hampshire, faces off with 49 other young women from across the country in scholastics, fitness, talent and self-expression for the massive scholarship prize. The competition also features an interview portion that eyes each competitor's academic record and test scores.
"The power of our youth is strong, and these 50 state representatives are the embodiment of that," Kendra Haskins, the Executive Director of Distinguished Young Women said.

Chevaire will sway her way through the talent portion of the competition, performing a dance called "Warrior."
On Saturday, June 25, eight finalists will be picked from the bunch to vie for the title of Distinguished Young Woman of America for 2022 — and a share of the $150,000 scholarship prize.
