ASBURY PARK, NJ — An Asbury Park man was indicted this week on charges he threatened a witness who testified in a 2024 murder trial, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond Santiago announced Friday.

Jaisun Z. Brown, 21, is charged with second-degree witness retaliation.

The prosecutor said Brown started threatening the witness in April, after sentencing in a 2022 murder trial. Law enforcement uncovered multiple communications by Brown towards or publicly referencing the witness and their role in the homicide trial, said the prosecutor.

Brown wrote comments that were threatening or suggestively violent in nature towards the witness.

“Witness intimidation is a crime that strikes at the very heart of the justice system itself,” said Santiago. “We implore witnesses to come forward to testify, acknowledging that it takes an immense amount of courage to do so, especially when pertaining to such heinous and deliberate acts of violence. This case speaks directly to our commitment to do everything in our power to ensure witnesses can testify openly, under the full protection of the law, without fear of any retribution or retaliation.”
