ASBURY PARK, NJ — This December, Asbury Park received a $55,000 grant from Gov. Phil Murphy's administration as part of Murphy's "Safe Streets to Transit" grants.

Asbury Park will use the money to install bicycle racks along Springwood Avenue, Cookman Avenue and Lake Avenue as well as to install bicycle lockers at the Asbury Park train/bus center.

This is money from the Murphy administration to enhance public transit facilities, such as trains and bus stations, across the state.

“These grants will allow for crucial investments into local public transportation infrastructure, without burdening local taxpayers,” said state Sen. Vin Gopal (D-NJ11), who represents this area in Trenton and helped petition for the funding. “I was glad to support funding for these grants in this year’s budget, and I’m thrilled to see them awarded locally. Congratulations to Red Bank, Long Branch and Asbury Park.”
