2 Hospitalized In Southern Ocean School Bus Crash: Police

The bus was carrying seven students from the Pinelands Regional School District when it collided with a sedan, police said.

LITTLE EGG HARBOR, NJ — Two people were hospitalized after a collision between a school bus and a sedan in Little Egg Harbor Monday afternoon, local police said.

It was shortly after 12 p.m. June 16 when Little Egg Harbor police were dispatched to the intersection of Radio Road and Gaskill Drive for a crash between a school bus and a Honda Civic, according to a news release.

The Honda driver, a 30-year-old woman, was trapped inside her car, police said. Fire and EMS were called for support to extract her. Radio Road traffic was diverted for about an hour as firefighters used extraction tools to dislodge the driver's side door and rescue her, police said.

After she was rescued, she was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Seven students from the Pinelands Regional School District were on the bus and one was also hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The bus driver, 23-year-old Ryan Maloney of Durham Bus Services, was later issued a summons for failure to stop or yield right of way, police said.
