2-Vehicle Crash Knocks Down Light Pole In Barnegat
A two-car crash at the intersection of Route 9 and Gunning River Road knocked down a light pole on Saturday afternoon, according to police.
BARNEGAT, NJ — A two-car crash at the intersection of Route 9 and Gunning River Road knocked down a light pole on Saturday afternoon, according to Barnegat Township police.
A woman, 33, of Barnegat was traveling in the northbound lane of Route 9 and turned left on to Gunning River Road around 5 p.m., Captain Jason Carroll told Patch.
She struck a car in the southbound lane driven by a woman, 64, of Waretown. The two cars veered into a traffic light pole, which fell on the Waretown woman’s vehicle, Carroll said.

The Waretown woman was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center Trauma Center after she reported pain in her head, neck and shoulders.
Traffic at the intersection was diverted for about 45 minutes while authorities removed debris from the road and the New Jersey Department of Transportation replaced the traffic light.

The Barnegat woman was issued a summons for failure to yield.
