Barnegat Rescue Seeks Donations For Hurricane Victims, Pets In Louisiana

BARNEGAT, NJ — The East Coast Paws N’ Claws Rescue is collecting donations for pets and families that have been impacted by Hurricane Ida in Louisiana.

East Coast Paws N’ Claws is a nonprofit, foster-based rescue group that provides temporary care to homeless and abandoned animals in the Ocean County area before they find forever homes.

“Hurricane Ida did some major damage to our friends in Louisiana,” the rescue wrote on Facebook. “We are collecting supplies to drive down when the roads clear!”

A large variety of supplies have been requested including pet supplies, like dry dog food, collars and leashes, as well as emergency supplies such as bungee cords, working gloves and flashlights (see the full list below). The deadline to donate items is Sept. 17.

The following items are needed:

• Tarps lots of tarps
• Bungee cords
• Zip ties
• 5 gallon gas cans
• Duct tape
• Working gloves
• Medical gloves
• First aid items
• Rubbermaid totes
• Flashlights
• Batteries
• Paper towels
• Bleach
• Dawn dish soap
• Garbage bags

Rescued/abandoned dog needs:

• Collars ( all sizes, gently used)
• Leashes
• Sheets/ towels
• Flea/tick meds any brand is fine
• Capstar
• Paper bowls
• Dry dog food

For adults/kids in the devastated areas:

• Socks ( new in packaging only)
• Underwear (new in packaging only)
• Baby/toddler formula
• Diapers all sizes
• Gatorade
• Maxi pads/tampons
• Deodorant
• Bar soap
• Gift cards for Walmart, Amazon, Tractor Supply, Visa, Mastercard
