Body Found In Ocean Near NJ Beach: Officials

A body was recovered Thursday from the water off Barnegat Light, Coast Guard officials said.

BARNEGAT LIGHT, NJ — A body was recovered Thursday from the water off Barnegat Light, officials said.

The Coast Guard received a report of a possible dead body in the ocean from a good Samaritan at about 5:30 p.m., Petty Officer Kimberly Reaves said.

Coast Guard Station Barnegat Light responded and recovered the body about two miles off the coast of Island Beach State Park.

Reaves said the Glen Rock Police Department in Bergen County is overseeing the investigation.

No further information was released and Glen Rock police could not immediately be reached for comment.
