Bruce Alan Bryant, Grew Up On Long Beach Island, Dies At 67

Bruce Alan Bryant of Lower Bank, New Jersey passed away on Sunday, March 19, 2017 of complications of a brain aneurism and heart attack. He was 67.

A lifelong lover of the ocean, Bruce grew up in Long Beach Island and worked as a commercial fisherman. He then moved to Fort Myers, Florida, where he was known for his skills in welding and boat engine repair.

Upon the passing of his mother in 2003, Bruce retired and returned to Long Beach Island. Born Dec. 22, 1949, Bruce grew up in New Jersey, the only son of Annabel Marie (Reynolds) Bryant of Lumberton, a 28- year Post Office clerk in Beach Haven and Herbert Harry Bryant, a World War II who died when Bruce was five.

Bruce served in the US Navy on the USS John Willis from 1969-1971. He was interred in the family pot in Evergreen Cemetery in Lumberton next to his mother and father.

Bruce leaves behind his only son, Bruce Herbert Bryant in Fort Myers, Florida, and his granddaughter, Amelia Berry Bryant in Denver, Colorado). Together with Amelia's mother, Ellen Elizabeth Berry, the family currently resides in Talking Rock, Georgia.

A graveside ceremony was held at the Evergreen Cemetery on Saturday, March 25, 2017, with a celebration of life that followed at the Green Bank Fire Hall.Funeral arrangements were handled by the Thos L.
