How To Avoid Craigslist Rental Scams On Long Beach Island This Summer
Red flags to watch out for if you're looking for a place to rent for a vacation

If it sounds too good to be true, it is.
The Beach Haven police department is warning potential summer visitors to Long Beach Island about Craigslist summer rental scams.
Number one - unbelievably low prices. For example, say its a five-bedroom house, two bath house for $1,000 a month. Don't send a down payment to secure the property. You'll never get it back. Don't wire any money.

Number two - most fake owners will tell you they are out of the country or out of state. They will never meet you in person. They will tell you the home is currently rented and can't be seen. If you search the address, it may not even exist.
Number three -
They want the money upfront. They may ask you to wire the money or mail it to a Post Office box and then they will send you the keys. Never ever wire money.
If nothing else gives you a red flag, this should.
If someone tells you they need you to wire them the money or mail it to a P.O. Box and then you will get the keys sent to you — RUN, don’t walk.
