Long Beach Island 3rd Annual International Kite Festival Continues Today
The festival will run through Monday, Oct. 9

SHIP BOTTOM, NJ - The skies over Long Beach Island will come alive with kites of all kinds during the third annual Long Beach Island FLY Kite Festival over the next few days.
The festival started on Friday at 12:30 p.m. with kite flying displays and demonstrations at the 9th through 11th street beaches in Ship Bottom. There will be an indoor competition from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. in the Long Beach Island Grade School on Friday night.
The festival will continue through Monday with demonstrations and competitions on beaches in Ship Bottom and the Brant Beach section of Long Beach Township. There will even be a "Mayor's Kite" competition and a "Night Fly Extravaganza" at Barnegat Light State Park and the Bafnegat Lighthouse.

"Perhaps some of the larger kites will be grounded, but there will be flying if there is light mist or rain," according to the Festival Facebook page
Free LBI bus shuttles will runduring the entire festival. Just stand on Long Beach Island Boulevard and flag one down. For more information go to www.lbishuttle.com
Admission is free, except for a $2 charge for anyone over 12 to attend the Friday and Sunday night Indoor Flys.
Don't miss the candy drops for kids at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. at the main demonstration field at 11th Street in Ship Bottom.
