Long Beach Township Beach Patrol Mourns The Loss Of Chief
Jon Harrison, who kept the beaches of Long Beach Township safe for decades, has died

LONG BEACH TOWNSHIP, NJ - A familiar face on the beaches of Long Beach Township will be missing this summer.
Longtime Beach Patrol Chief Jon Harrison, 60, died unexpectedly recently after a long battle with an undisclosed illness, according to the Beach Patrol's Facebook page.
"Chief’s passion for the ocean fueled his unwavering desire to protect those who ventured out into her waters, the post states. "Numerous LBTBP ocean lifeguards were fortunate enough to witness first hand just how Chief Harrison redefined strength, tenacity and grit. Jon devoted much of his life to being in the service of others, saving the lives of countless individuals on our island."

Jon is survived by his loving wife Dana, his son Jeremy and his wife Kaitlin, in addition to his adored grandson Ryder.
"The desire to save lives is quite possibly the ultimate calling," the post states. "The legacy all ocean lifeguards hope to leave is one that inspires new generations to serve others, but most importantly, save lives while bravely contending with the forces of mother nature. Chief Harrison, you nailed it."
