Smoky Air From Wildfire Prompts Alerts; Masks Offered In Barnegat
Smoke from the Jones Road wildfire was expected to continue to cause air quality issues all day Wednesday, possibly longer, officials said.

BARNEGAT, NJ — Smoke from the Jones Road wildfire was continuing to filter across Ocean County on Wednesday, prompting air quality alerts from health officials.
For those with respiratory issues, smoke particles can be troublesome, and authorities recommend limiting exposure by staying indoors, closing windows and other methods.
In Barnegat, the police department said N-95 masks will be given out for residents who want one because of the smoke.

The masks were being offered by the Ocean County Office of Emergency Management and the Red Cross, and were available in the lobby at the Barnegat Township Recreation Center, 900 West Bay Ave., Barnegat.
Authorities said the evacuation shelter at Southern Regional High School has been relocated to Saint Mary's Parish Center, 100 Bishop Ave., Manahawkin.
