'Newtown' Documentary To Be Shown At Manahawkin Campus Of Stockton University

Parents of students massacred at Connecticut elementary school discuss how the Dec. 14, 2012 event affected them.

It's not an easy film to watch or even comprehend.

One day you put your first-grader on the school bus, not knowing you will never see them again.

That's what it was like for the families of the 20 children gunned down by a mentally disturbed young man who killed them at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in December of 2012.

If you missed the showing of the film on various public television stations last Monday night, you can see it on Friday, April 21 at 10 a.m. when Stockton University at Manahawkin will host a free screen of "Newtown"at 712 East Bay Avenue in Manahawkin.

The film explores the aftermath of the mass shooting in Newtown, Conn., where 20 first-graders and six of their educators were killed on Dec. 14, 2012.

Joining the ranks of a growing club to which no one wants to belong, the lives of several characters profoundly affected by the fallout of gun violence interconnect and propel the town toward introspection and action.

This event is supported by the Office of Service-Learning.
