Snowbirds' Pipes Are Bursting From Cold In Surf City, Police Say

Homeowners are urged to check vacant houses for possible damage.

SURF CITY, NJ - Surf City police responded to multiple calls for water leaks on Saturday, according to the police department's Facebook page.

"If your home is vacant during the off-season and it has not been properly winterized, it would be a wise idea to do so now/soon," the post states. "The colder weather is coming folks, and the last thing you need is a phone call from us saying we were at your property for a burst pipe!"

Anyone who is still in the area and sees or hears running water that might indicate a water leak or burst pipe, call the police on the non- emergency line at 609-494-8121.
