The speed limits have already been lowered.

Leadfoots, beware. Speed limits on county roads on Long Beach Island have been lowered for the summer season.

That means all of Long Beach Boulevard, Bay Avenue and some side streets.

The speed limit on Long Beach Boulevard through Surf City is now 30 miles per hour. Central Avenue is 35 miles per hour, according to the Surf City Police Department Facebook page.

Traffic lights will stop blinking yellow on May 22, when the standard red and green will be turned on for the remainder of the summer season.

"You can still cruise down to Beach Haven or up to Harvey Cedars without those pesky red lights, it just may take a little longer," according to the Facebook post.
